While staying at the SSR (Saratoga Springs Resort) we stopped in for breakfast with the counter service meal plan at Walt Disney World. For the first meal, I ordered from the low allergen menu, the Bounty Platter without dairy or gluten. I noticed on this […]
This was a last minute choice and we were able to book reservations the night prior without trouble. Our favorite has been Crystal Palace for years and years, but this just may be a new winner! I especially loved the guac and salsa options on the buffet. Great choices for vegetarians as well as the carnivores in the group. While the chef walked us through to show us what we could eat, and offered us to cook eggs without dairy, I was kind of surprised that they didn’t offer to bring a pastry or make a pancake or waffle, but knowing that these options are available, I just asked and they provided both! So, we loved our food and we really loved the interactions with the fun characters. This was a huge hit and I look forward to going back! They also brought me dairy free milk for my coffee, but the only issue was that they brought it in the same container as the regular cream and they left both on the table. I didn’t realize, and poured some by accident, took a drink and quickly realized what it was and spit it out! Thankfully I was able to taste the difference before it hit my tummy! But really, I highly recommend this fun breakfast experience.
We decided to give the Kona Cafe another try, but this time, for breakfast. We had a large group of 12, so finding a non character non buffet option took priority. Our seating was great, and we had a fabulous time as well as wonderful service. The gluten free dairy free waffle was in place of the biscuit that would have come with this meal. I would guess the waffle was made with Bob Red Mill’s gluten free pancake mix because it had that cornmeal taste to it. The chef did a fantastic job with it, however. Unlike our experience at Mara, this waffle was cooked perfectly. The rest of the dish was good, though nothing amazing to report. We received rice milk and earth balance butter along side. The Kona coffee was a treat, as well.
I know, it is the same ol’ same ol’ from us, but we can’t help it. We love the food at Crystal Palace and we love the experience of dining at Magic Kingdom before park opening! It was the same wonderful attention, help, and food as always. I still recommend it. You can see our gluten free dairy free pancakes and safe items from the buffet, here.
We always love Crystal Palace breakfast before park opening. It has been a family favorite, but this time some favorites have changed. The potatoes that we loved are a different variety with onions and peppers and less overall seasoning. The eggs that used to be gluten free and dairy free are no longer dairy free, so we ordered side of dairy free eggs. The last two times we were here, the whipped cream on the buffet was dairy free, but it was not this time. So, while the available options were still good, some of our favorites were not as good. Our chef did not offer to make pancakes or waffles, and instead, he encouraged us to eat a muffin. Upon asking for gluten free pancakes, however, he was happy to oblige. So, be sure to ask if there is something you were hoping for! Often the chef can accommodate.
We had a fabulous time seeing the princesses at this character meal. A photo shoot was even included with princess Belle. As you can see, we had plenty of food to choose from.
The two people with the same gluten and dairy allergies shared the two plates you see, while the rest of the group ate the regular menu off of a shared platter, family style. We all enjoyed ourselves and we had plenty of choices.
In addition to what is seen, we had a fresh fruit bar, with melons and berries to choose from. It was a fun treat.
The Crystal Palace was the favorite for both the girls because of the characters. Our daughter loved her GF/CF Mickey pancakes! She ate one, and then requested another, which they made for her promptly. Here is the rest of the plate from Crystal Palace: fruits, […]
