We keep going back here! It has become one of my favorites, for sure. Even though it was a cold night to go out and see the animals, they were incredibly active and I have never witnessed giraffes running so much before! It was amazing […]

It has been several years since we stopped in for breakfast, but this seemed a great time to visit with family and enjoy the beautiful views in and around the resort at Wilderness Lodge in Walt Disney World. For the gluten free dairy free crowd, […]
This stop is always a must for me. Gluten free dairy free bakery! YES! However, I must warn you…I’m kind of picky
about my gluten free baked goods. You see, I have been baking gluten free for over a decade and, not to toot my own horn, I’m pretty good at it. SO if I am spending my hard earned money on a gluten free dairy free dessert, it at least has to be as appealing as something I make at home. Erin McKenna’s is a mix for me. There are items that are not very good, in my opinion, and then there are amazing items! I fell in LOVE with the chocolate chip banana bread, for example. The cupcakes, however, are just not for me. If I was going for a cupcake, it would definitely be the mocha mint brownie, however. The extra flavors in that are a true treat. Now they deliver dairy free coconut ice cream! I was so pleased to try it. It turns out I could have used a snack credit for this, but it wasn’t visible on the menu, so I didn’t ask. The ice cream was great. Not TOO coconut. Nice texture. The topping I chose was a brownie crumb. That was a little bit of a let down, but still, it’s nice to have something on my vanilla! I really enjoyed the ice cream and I think this is a stand out option for the dairy free crowd.
For the rest, maybe not for me. If you are in Chicago, check out Swirlz Cupcakes. You will NOT be disappointed in their gluten free vegan options! Don’t let this fool you…I’ll be back with another review for McKenna’s before the trip is out!
